I read at the customs website that; (for Malaysia)
Tariff Heading: 9307DescriptionSwords, cutlasses, bayonets, lances and similar
arms and parts thereof and scabbards and sheaths
therefor
Rate of DutyImport 5%
Export Nil
*No mention whether need license or not...

noelchiew
Sep 29 2004, 09:47 PM
they are in hand with the police on weapons so prob they left it out. must ask police straight? guessing... here about the same. after customs see that weapon will pass to police to settle and then will ask you to apply those paperwork before letting you take home. dont come cheap though those permit etc...
syuki
Sep 29 2004, 09:47 PM
Okay I just checked Singapore Traffic Viewing Options.
And the thing is Singapore doesnt have swords, arms, weapons listed in any of the available option unlike Malaysia which has swords, arms, weapons listed at its options.

The following requires license/permit from the Royal Malaysian Police.
Dangerous Weapon Permit
Firearms Permit
Explosive Keeping License
Bulletproof vest license
Safety Equipment License (Alarm)

Hey guys,
I'm eyeing for some United Cutlery LOTR swords from ebay which is pretty cheap compare to those available in Singapore.
Has anybody here purchase before from overseas and have them ship back to Singapore?
Will Singapore Customs stop the item and confiscate it ? Or is there any extra charges before I can collect them from Singapore Post?
Pls guide.
Thanks alot

i guess it's too much of a work to look through this thread when there is so many pages. no prob, will advice you...
just a question just where in s'pore are you comparing prices of? i hope it's not caesars only cos they are the most costly.
you can ship those blunt ones say staffs or helms BUT for swords you need a license and a permit. custom will hold it and pass it to the police. you need to go down to the police station and then give them your details etc... and pay a fee.
for those considered very sharp edges like hadhafang, sting and LWK, you will be required to blunt them. do you want it spoilt by blunting though it will save you the money? i do not IMO, i will rather pay more and have a sword that was the way it is... so it's up to you!

last time i asked they said no news of management saying anything about bringing in those.
eh now sudd they selling it. must be exp as usual? hm... totally different from bleahhh's review. oh well, i got to see it for myself then.
i thought it's the same size, didnt know it's bigger. it's meant to be some sort of toy, with the electronics thing. maybe the light will look nice only in places where there isnt much light around. then there will be a contrast.

yeah! agree with noel... actually its pretty troublesome to carry the sword to the police... then let them grade ur sword. If too sharp or pointed edge, then have to blunt it and bring it back for survey again.

u got to worry bout scratches during the blunting process.
no matter wat, u would still have to apply for a permit and pay for it. even the MR sting, which is not made of metal has to be referred to the police.

hm...what if you get the sender to declare it as toy model?? eh... something like the toybiz anduril, there's one right i think i recall.
unless they doubt you and ask you to open in front of them. then lan lan...
Wander_fool
Oct 5 2004, 07:59 PM
hmmm... but all parcels and packages have to go thru screening. eventhough its not made of metal but then the shape of a sword would still appear... so in the end lan lan also.
