i'll try asking from UC direct, as the wooden dowl i asked previously.
their service is really good, i asked Kit Rae about it and he sent me the wooden dowl and a cert which i did not have by priority mail, at no cost. |
Hey noel bro, can keep a look out for me also?

seems like we got the same idea. Thanks a lot!

hmm? u also thinking of having a uc plaque for your mr sting? lol... ok, i'll keep you updated.

Aug 24 2004, 07:13 PM
Yeah!!! thats why we both have the same idea.... dun think displaying the sting on the table looks nice.

prefer to put all my swords hanging from the wall... better looking and save space.
Thanks a lot, noel bro!

Sep 2 2004, 01:13 AM
wow... where did you find that! so that's UC's version of sauron's guantlet???
wish there are better pics, like close ups for example.
my first impression is that it looks kinda too shiny. i thought it was supposed to be like black instead of chrome?

some news here for those who like the elven prologue sword.

Posted By Kit Rae at UCforums: Since we will be making the Elf shield we won't be making a wall display in the same shape. We went through the same thought process you guys are going through about a year ago for the sword and decided on an Elvish floor stand, similar to a katana stand. It is sitting here in my office and looks really nice. Now if we can just get the sword done to go with it...

some pics here for samples on how it will roughly be like.

haha...may i add i started that Prologue elven sword plaque design that prompted some answers frm kit rae...

but anyway, i am glad they are making the sword!! MUST GET!
noelchiew
Sep 2 2004, 01:43 PM
haha, saw that you suggested a wall plaque but so many people and kit himself saying a stand like these would be better.
and i do think it suits the sword, for it's size, it does seem much better than a wall plaque.

Pics were from CBS, better pics will be available once UC sends it to them.
noelchiew
Sep 2 2004, 03:30 PM
wow they seem to have the pics of new releases first with this as well as the gimli's axe and sauron's helm. this company CBS seems to have a good relationship with UC, even better than BBB.
hey guys read this:
| QUOTE |
| This actor’s scale gauntlet is wearable and is crafted with antiqued iron parts featuring an intaglio surfacing and a genuine leather-lined interior that precisely matches the original movie prop, which has more than 30 moving pieces. The index finger bears the familiar “One Ring” that features a 24-K gold plated finish and engraved inscription. Each gauntlet is presented with a glass dome and wood display stand also adorned with “The One Ring” inscription and a brass medallion. This adult collectible is strictly limited to 3000 pieces worldwide and is individually serialized on a solid brass plate mounted on the inside of the gauntlet to ensure authenticity. |
so... wow! you can actually wear it. but it's a right handed so no point buying you if that's what you are thinking. let's hope it's the lighting that made the guanlet look ligher in colour and shinier as opposed to the helm. it would be a dissapointment if the colour doesnt match on both. so bros, some of you were like waiting to see UC's version then can compare with MR's. so here you have it... both are different in many ways. anybody now looking forward to purchasing either?
syuki
Sep 2 2004, 04:00 PM
Yup, CBS already mentioned that its fully wearable at the Forum.I dunno, kinda tempted to get both. But then, I also want the mace.

scary? are you imagining the thing from the adams family? hehe...
cbs was listing it as $US349.95. you can try asking EA to quote you from his source and compare. check prev posts to see if he actually mentioned the price of the guantlet before you ask him. i think he may have mentioned it.
here's another look at the guantlet.
syuki
Sep 2 2004, 07:41 PM
The price from UC is $600 plus but as usual some retailers will drop their prices.

Sep 3 2004, 12:35 AM
So how noelbro??? u thinking of getting it? seems quite expensive... but if it comes with the glass casing... should be quite beautiful for display.
noelchiew
Sep 3 2004, 01:10 AM
indeed it is very costly. infact as i said before it is super costly to complete the sauron set from UC.
the guantlet seems tempting. looks real nice, and it is rather meaningful to the story you guys should know what i meant. so displaying it is cool. really would want it...
BUT... cant afford it. just too bad. would rather spend that money on many other stuffs i can get and not just A gauntlet.
what about you? it will seriously lighten your wallet a lot eh? by the way, the pic is what the product will look like so yes, it will have that glass cover.
Wander_fool
Sep 3 2004, 01:14 AM
Seriously... think i will have to pass on the gauntlet.

like wat u say, the money could be better save up for better stuffs.
but its really a very nice attraction to display it... but would have to collect the whole sauron set or else its seems incomplete.
syuki
Sep 3 2004, 01:17 AM
I'm not sure which to get MR or UC.To me MR's one looks more significant as the finger is already cut, then maybe can display with Shards of Narsil.
Then UC's one just looks awesome.
Which shall I get.
Wander_fool
Sep 3 2004, 01:24 AM
must be very confusing rite???? how bout comparing the price?
syuki
Sep 3 2004, 01:28 AM
the price is more less around there lor
CBSwords has Sauron's Gauntlet at around $350 while MR's price is $199.
Hmm.....
noelchiew
Sep 3 2004, 01:36 AM
i know it does seem better to complete the whole sauron set but it really would take up lots of space and money. if you really like him then yes, buying the whole set would be a good choice.
but i think the gaunlet is the more important piece as it contains the one ring. so if you feel it's ok, then getting it is enough. if i had the money, i would just have the gauntlet. but which one i dont know cos... i'm not getting it now! lol... so never think about it.
what syuki said makes sense, it does seem mr's more significant in that way that the figure is cut. and the ring's inscriptions can light up and that's cool! buy both? to have the before & after effect just like the narsil sword. from narsil to shards to anduril... cool trilogy history.

Hmm, I wonder when they will release pics of the Mace.
Wall plaque? Do they sell it individually? How much?
noelchiew
Sep 3 2004, 03:08 AM
mace will not be that soon. they havent even announce the product and given it a product number yet. have to wait for that to happen and then another few months for pics i guess.
i do not know how much it cost. i wasnt told. maybe it's free? haha...

Sep 3 2004, 03:01 PM
hey bleahhh, did the mr sting come with a parchment cert like uc does? or does it just have the stand and sword only.
syuki
Sep 3 2004, 04:16 PM
As you can see in this picture, MR sting has no cert.
noelchiew
Sep 3 2004, 04:34 PM
oh that's a pity. they should have included a cert dont you think? somewhat like proof that it's authetic and it does look nice if you have a cert to display together.
syuki
Sep 3 2004, 05:51 PM
Yes, I agree.Having a cert with you collectable is nice.

You can also show off to your friends

haha you really want to 'mod' it all the way to look like UC? if the scale is the same, then the only concern is how think the blade is. due to it having the glow thingy, i do not know if it's much thicker.
my guess is because it's thicker anyway, it wouldnt fit. so bleahhh maybe you could fill us in?

| QUOTE (Ken Bates UC Product Manager) |
Hey folks,
We at United Cutlery want to thank all of you for showing so much interest in our products. We are working very hard to bring you more high quality collectible products from movies and our own designers, like Kit.
I've got some updates I want to pass along to you, as well as sharing some photos of various prototype LOTR products. I know you've seen Sauron's gauntlet, but the other photos are new.
Check out the picture of some helmets we are working on. The picture shows, starting from the left, the 3rd Age Gondorian infantryman helmet. The helm is made of iron and has an adjustable leather lined interior. This helmet will be available late this year or early in 2005. The next helmet is one of my personal favorites, Isildur's helmet, and is also made from iron and brass, like King Elendil's helm. This has a leather lined interior, and should be available in the Spring of 2005. Both of these helmets will be limited editions of 5000 pieces. Obviously the next three helmets are the same, and they are the High Elven war helm so prominently featured in the prologue to The Fellowship of the ring. You can see three different colors, with the one in the middle being closest to the color of the actual movie prop. Unfortunately, this product just could not be made of metal. It is fiberglass reinforced resin, with leather lined padding inside. This helmet should be available late in 2004.
The next picture shows a prototype of the High Elven Warrior shield next to the helm. The shield will aslo be made of fiberglass reinforced resin, with a genuine leather wrapped handle made of wood and metal. You can hang this shield on a wall with the wall mount and leather hanging strap that will come with it. Both the helm and shield will be limited editions of 5000 pieces.
Next is a shot of three of Gimlis axes, the battle axe, the walking axe, and the bearded axe. The battle axe will be available in mid October, while the walking axe should be available in late 2004, and the bearded axe available in the Spring of 2005. I've also included a shot of some of the various pieces of the walking axe prototype. I've included a picture of Sauron's gauntlet, and as I mentioned earlier, the color of the gauntlet will be darker than those posted previously. This is an awesome product, especially when paired with the glass domed display. The availability of the gauntlet will be late in November of this year. Enjoy the pictures.
This photo shows the first in a series of what we are calling the "Museum Collection". Obviously it is Sting, but what makes this product so cool is that the blade is made from High Carbon Toledo spring steel, and the guard and pommel are plated in genuine silver. The piece has more of the distressed look found in the original movie prop. In addition, this piece comes in a solid wood display box, with a lock, and has special background art from the style guides from New Line Cinema. Availability for this product will be late this year. You probably recognize the sword standing up next to the display box with the Sting sword in it as Boromir's sword. This happens to be our first prototype sword, and unfortunately, we need to do more work to it. We have to make better tooling for some of the parts so that it matches the actual movie prop better. This is such a cool sword, that we don't want to rush it to market without it being the best it could be. At this point, availability will be Spring 2005. |
some of these are arriving much sooner than we thought! time to save money guys if you are interested in these...

on one hand maybe you can think of saving up and hoping it's also prob too expensive for many people and it wouldnt be sold out that soon, giving you time to save.
on the other hand, hard to say? since they are all limited editions...
here's a pic of the gondor fountain guard helm. very elaborate ah the feathers and wings. make it look really big. will surely take up lots of space if displayed.
Wander_fool
Sep 6 2004, 04:28 PM
hahaha... the wings really look very funny. Looks like someone wearing a bird on the head.
syuki
Sep 6 2004, 04:34 PM
wonder if the feathers can tahan lama or not.
noelchiew
Sep 6 2004, 06:03 PM
due to the cheek guards being so long, extending way below the jaw, the helm looks kinda big huh...
if they really made these, and then with actual feathers, as long you keep it dry. they should be able to last and not rot or something i guess.
