I went to Vista CD shop at Pearl's Centre (beside Outram MRT). Their CDs are really cheap. They are located behind the SBS transit Bus Stop. ROTK Soundtrack only at S$16.00! Considering CD-Rama seeling it at S$18.90.

I am still listening to the OST. But it's very good! Love Track 16: The End Of All Things! This must be when the ring is about to be dropped into the lava pits of Mount Doom!!!! wow.gif wow.gif wow.gif wow.gif

S$16.90 is a very good price. Are there any goodies (eg. miniature character cards) included?

BTW, what's OST? blink.gif
Elven Archer
OST is original soundtrack. what does the cover of the CD look like? I know there are a few different covers for the CD.

sounds great......might be getting it too....is it better than the fellowship, two towers?

Hi hi... I typed the price wrongly. It is actually CHEAPER!!!!

You can find quite a lot of CD at that price in Chinatown... if you know where to find. wink.gif

Darn, sometimes you can even find OST for $14.

In my opinion, the ROTK Soundtrack pales in comparison to the FOTR and TTT soundtracks. In FOTR, you can really get a sense of Middle Earth as it used to be, with strong themes for all the inhabitants. Ethereal and mysterious theme for the Elves in Rivendell and Lothlorien, carefree and mischeivous theme for the Hobbits in Hobbiton and resonant, cavernous theme for the Dwarves in the mines of Moria. Even the Nazgul have their haunting devilish chase theme.

In TTT, you can feel the music shift more towards the realm of man, lots of grandoise, war horn-blowing type themes for Rohan. Even Gollum has his slimy, scheming theme towards the end.

But for ROTK ..... the music feels so alien. The ending portion of track three is nice, they used it in the trailer when Gandalf is riding down the leader of the Nazgul, so it's really cool music to speed in your car to .... but that aside, except for the occasional (and somewhat bastardised) hints of familiar themes, I can't seem to identify with anything else. And what is it with all the weird singing ?

I like to get the special edition too. This time round they included a dvd tt jacked up the price to $44.90. The precious 2 Special Edition OST didn't cost me more than $26 each sad.gif

Nevertheless, managed to get the *ahem* version (...I'll still buy the original tongue.gif ). I find this quite good. Noticed tt Howard shore will introduce a new theme in succession to the unfolding of the story.

The Minas Tirith theme works great here, and I think it was used in the trailers too. Another Oscar for him? I wish the songs sung by Pippin and Aragorn were longer though....

saw HMV selling the OST for all three films for 62 bucks or so... then went gramophone.. they are selling theirs for i think 56 bucks..

U still have one copy to sell? How many copies did you buy? I remember I bought one from you! smile.gif

Anyway, speaking of soundtrack, I like ROTK very much! Fav track would be "retiurn of the king" with Viggo singing a few phrases! And how can we forget the beautiful "Into the West" sung by Annie Lennox? If you wacthed the DVD extra segment on this theme song, you get to appreciate the song even more!

Just a small trivium, did u notice the minas tirith theme during the extended scenes at council of elrond in FOTR? wink.gif

Yeah lah, go Laserflair, Gramaphone or Blue Max. I am sure they still have stocks. Oh btw I just remembered, I actually have an extra set of ROTK EE with Minas Tirith collector's box set and also an extra Minas Morgul to go with it . . .

btw this is not the correct thread. it is for soundtrack and not the movie. there is another thread for ROTK EE gift set. So, should transfer postings there?
noelchiew
yes getting off topic already. there is the rotk ee thread. actually there's also a Q & A thread i remember.
