Seeing that the lotr collector community here is not that big like say marvel, spawn or starwars, there's still room for more hopefully.
Anyway, since we are quite a small group, introducing can help us to know one another better too.
So i'll start the ball rolling, what you want to say is up to you. basically your name, what you do etc... if name is secretive then tell us what you want to be called.
Try not to stray off topic yah? dont want to see this thread flooded with too many spam or non related posts. sky perhaps you can make it a sticky?

My name is Alvin, coming 30 in 2 mths, self-employed.

Hi, this is my first posting on SGCollect! Name's Bernard, 42yo, currently not working.
I collect only LOTR stuff. Started in April this year with Yahoo auctions, made some friends, got introduced to the whole toy collection thingy, CQ, got hooked onto Internet purchases, and built up a nice collection of books, action figures and other LOTR stuff in 5 months! And now I find myself here in this forum!
I get most of my collectibles from tolkientown, newline studio, sideshow weta and amazon.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Sky!
I haven't compiled a list of my collection yet, too much stuff!
From tolkientown, I bot quite a wide range of stuff, including books, magnets, bookmarks, sculptures, action figures, postcards, movie cards, jewellery, mousepads, CD-ROMs, calendars, hmm wat else . . .?
Fortunately I did not have any bad experience with them, everything I ordered arrived.
Generally, the same items are more expensive in Tolkientown shop than NewLine Studio shop, but some items are exclusive only to Tolkientown. And for books and DVDs, Amazon is still the cheapest. Usually I prefer shipment to be direct to SG, and I use VPost USA only for items that cannot be shipped outside U.S. Reason is that shipping charges do not differ that much, and besides, VPost USA makes a mess of matching invoices when I have too many outstanding orders simultaneously.

Male nurses are a rare species, a rare breed, highly sought after. Their aid can be invaluable at times. I salute you, Randy, for choosing such a noble profession!

Yes indeed. I salute you too, Randy!
On a lighter note, your job as a male nurse reminds me of Ben Stiller's character in the movies Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers - who is also a male nurse.

Try to log in using this favorite nick of mine and realised that it doesn't exist. (???) And I thought I had signed up before.
Anyway, here I am, dropping by to say hi to all the SSW's crazy collectors whom I met yesterday at Simply Toy's opening at Raffles place. Its a pleasure chatting with all of you and knowing that I'm not alone who is smitten by the 'Boromir Effect'.
Oh, I'm Dav and I'm teaching PE/ Maths at a secondary school. And some of my students and colleagues are mad about LOTR too. One day, I had a student shouting across the field and pointing a finger at me when I was passing by:
"I COMMAND YOU TO FULFILL YOUR OATH!"
Its delightful, isn't it - the world of Tolkien?
Hope to meet up with you guys again soon.

Welcome, Dav, to the brotherhood of LOTR fan(atics)!
btw isn't rather disrespectful of a student to behave like dat towards a teacher?
And guys, looks like Dav has a link to a potential pool of LOTR fans and collectors (his school), with possibilities for trades too, for our extra toys!
askl2000
Jan 11 2005, 12:39 AM
If I were Dav, I would reply to that insolent fool and say, "I banish you to the foul depths of detention...there, I fulfilled my oath!"
Then if the bugger procrastinated on the way there, you can simply say, "Fly, you fool!"
Seriously, the younger generation of today have little to no respect for their elders...I guess part of the reason has to do with the 'education' they receive from their parents/peers. Much worse than we were during our younger days.

That rude student in question is really having fun with a fellow LOTR fanatic. He's a lovely student. There are many rude and disrespectful students around- they have not been educated in the world of Tolkien yet.
No, I didn't order the Orc Brute statue. I'm one of the senior citizens. I got myself into this buying frenzy after seeing PJ talked about the partnership with Sideshow Toys in the special bonus edition DVD 'Gollum'. I was totally memerised by the Ringwraith & Steed. And of course a lot more after that!
Of course this persistent card swiping incurred the wrath of the wife at home! These married will know what I mean. You can keep the purchasing from her but when the statue is being displayed, there's no escaping her fiery. She hates PJ! She really do. Her all time favorite film is Gladiator- to each his/her own.
