Hi,
I've been searching for a LOTR AOME thread here but could not find any. Are there any collectors for the AOME series? When was this series released locally?

Thanks.
guoyi
the series was released abt 1 1/2 years ago locally.. but the line died off thanks to Jakks Pacific's acquisition of Playalong...
noelchiew

Looking for AOME collector. Well, I'm 1 of them! biggrin.gif
Although thread had died, but the spirit is still around biggrin.gif
If only I own a camera, I will show you guys my battle scene outside
Helm's Deep.

Hey Grimbold! Those AOME belong to you? They look great! Too bad, I only have 1 Rohan rider.......

Btw, I went shopping around and saw Vincent selling the bridge at khazad dum. Guess what, he selling a loose set minus the orc archer @ $55 and box set @ $100! Wonder how much her earn..... 5x? yuck.gif
Grimbold_of_Westfold
Yep. Those are my AOME. Love em. Think only guoyi and myself still have them. tongue.gif You still have them ya guoyi?

Helm's Deep is nice too. But i din have enough Elven archers/ warriors and Rohirrim soldiers (not riders) to form a diorama. So din get it eventually.

Errr...actually 2X. BOKD was retailing at 50 bucks. Dun think it made it to taka toy fair that year also. But vincent's is well......can't say here but ............. mad.gif To be fair though, I dun think anyone will sell BOKD at 50 bucks anymore. It is the best, if not one of the best AOME pieces ever.

Dun think any one in the Singapore LOTR toy community still collects them now. Even I have stopped. Anyway, just snap some pics and show us soon.

Grimbold,
Your collection is fantastic and your photography of them is even better! The battle scene seems to be out of The Two Towers!

So the AOME line has stopped! Didn't know that! So what is the beauty of the AOME line? For example, the sideshow line is detailed etc. BOKD is one of the best pieces? How about the Pelennor Fell Beast set?
Grimbold_of_Westfold
Pelennor fields fell beast was disappointing for some reasons. The main one being the lack of a fallen Snowmane and Theoden. They were in the prototype but the final product showed the fell beast stepping on only a rock.

Another popular one is the Fellbeast in Osgiliath. But nothing beats the epic scene...."YOU SHALL NOT PASS!". clap.gif That is of cos only my opinion. smile.gif
Wander_fool
i only collected the AOME battle scenes set plus the fellowship set. laugh.gif laugh.gif i agree that AOME was best for army building because of its fine details... too bad they dun release anymore figures...

i can juz imagine the costs needed juz to purchase the figures to create a battle scene. drool.gif
bleahhh
i think this series is reeally expensive. I actually tried to do a battle of helms deep. But still cant get enuff figures and I still yet to make the diorama!!
starwarsfen
i ordered online for the pelennor fell beast set but the merchant sent me the pelennor fields deluxe set(with seige tower) instead! maybe i try to find the BOKD set now.

i saw the helmsdeep set at a local toy store and the cover art looked great! so no one managed to gather enough uruks to re-create the scene?

Truly agree.....
I bought my fellbeast in Osgiliath from ebay but got it sent over by my friend. Therefore, I save quite alot.

Currently, I'm lacking BOKD only......but $50 for 1 is quite high......although it used to sell $30 but those were the days.

2 cents worth: For ppl still into AOME, you can try to add treebeard from toybiz and add in to the battle at Isengard. The size just right for it. I got 1, thinking of getting another 1

I just don't understand why it cost that high for aome.....if its lower, I would have create pelennor battle scene, helm's deep battle scene, Isengard battle scene.
Grimbold_of_Westfold
Think you got it wrong watergate. BOKD was retailing at metro and other places at $50 when it was out like a year and a half ago. I am quite certain I got the price correct cos just a set of 3 soldier (any sort) would already cost 20 bucks. And BOKD never saw light at Taka toyfair cos it was just too popular.

I have enough uruks to line em up in front of Helms deep. But not enough Rohirrim soldiers (not riders). Oh well, Ride of Rohirrim works for better anyway. tongue.gif

Oh Yes! I think I have about 1200. But lately I mainly just collect info on Aome. Had two questions for Asian collectors.

Where there any Aome sets released in Asia, that where not released in US and Europe ? (like Orc Catapult)

Where there any Aome sets issued in local language packaging ?

I hope one day to put together a guide or site devoted only to the series. I made a basic guide for Ebay but they don't allow much space or pics (only 10) so its mainly an elaborate checklist. Here it is if interested.

So u heard the good news as well!!! The "Hobbit" is indeed coming. From thegd.com :
"After months of speculation and rumor, the announcement was made today that Guillermo del Toro will direct two upcoming 'Hobbit' films! Del Toro will be moving to New Zealand for the next four years to work with Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. He'll direct the two films back to back, with the sequel which will deal with the 60-year period between 'The Hobbit' and 'The Fellowship of the Ring', the first entry in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy. For the complete details check out Variety.com's official announcement, and begin planning those 'Hobbit' Oscar parties now!"

Yes! there has been stuff going on behind the scenes for over a year. Everyones been saying/hoping Gandalf & Gollum have to be the same. The new Director, Del Torro, has said that Andy Serkis (Gollum) is also in. Elsewhere, I have heard the original music writer Howard Shore is certain also. Besides them, in the art depart, John Howe is supposed to be on board and Alan Lee is in the works (but I know he will say yes). Also almost certainly the Richard Taylor & the Weta bunch.

Everybodys current favorite speculation is who will play Bilbo...

Most think it will be a new, younger actor, then the one in Lotr (Ian Holm).

There's going to be new figures for sure. But what type...what scale...? is really important to me. I'm too set in my collecting to jump scales. But I would say 6 inch action figures are certain, and a few 12 inch at least pretty sure. Below that it's up in the air. I want Aome scale, but I think 4 inch a bit more likely. I can hope enough companies want a piece of the action to see both. Might see new stuff in the very small Games-Workshop scale as well.
