The thread is dead but the spirit isn't. (At least mine isn't). Gimme a good LOTR deal and I'd be likely to take it. Alas, the LOTR climate in the current secondary market is anything but liquid.

I still need many figures. 2 Pews, 2 Elven Warriors, 1 Haldir, 2 horses, 1 easterling and another gondorian swordsman at the v. least.

I started out pretty late but LOTR is my main focus in collection, and I'm always in the lookout for figures and horses too.

Hmm, the most recent figs I got was Gondorian Swordsman and the Mordor Orc Lieutanant.. other than that, had been doing some head count of the my figs..

The next BIGGEST thing to happen in LOTR figs, shd be the incoming of the NECA 22" Balrog, coming in March !!

Yep, very much a knight in armour fan! The Nazgul are cool too with the armour under their cloaks. Witchking helmet way too cool.

Hope Peter Jackson do the prequels so that Toybiz can do more Middleearth toys. But more "gods" in those prequels than men, elves, orcs and dwarfs. Wonder how Melkor and the other gods will look like??? Think the movie did a very good Sauron but the toy version did not sit too well with me. Face like a horse!

I think its Beorn. If PJ does make The Hobbit, the earliest he'll start filming is 2008 or 2009.

Thinking of building an Ent squad, but I only have Treebeards. Not sure whether there are other Ents figs, but anyone tried to build an Ent squad? Customize?

Treebeard is the ONLY Ent figure to be released by Toybiz eventhough there are other ents (with names) in Middle Earth.

Which Treebeard you intend to use to build your army ? The 14" one of the smaller 7" one ?

Hey, i haven't been here in a while. Good idea to start this thread! I think the interest is only lying dormant for a while ready to explode again when they make the Hobbit movie. Good to see quite a few ppl here still holding on to their LOTR collection.

well of all the figures in the line...my fav figure will be the nickname i m using. and its also my third lotr toybiz buys. i remembered i start my lotr collections when taka having this crazy toy sales and my gf bought me this 9 men fellowship boxed set. then i went on to CQ to get my 2nd and third buys. retro helms deep lego (still my fav lego) and morgul lord.

i m a late collector myself. got all bad guys execpt that mordor skully orc everyones after. i notice many ppl crazed after the rohirrim figure...actually i dont find him that nice, just his helm is detailed. and i hate that armoured eomer, u guys should check out spiderman's version. And i love eowyn in armour, its just...nice.

Nope, same figure since last time. I just took the pics under much better lighting so the details, including the dirt, stand out more.

Nice to reminisce about the start of the collection! Ah the nostalgia... I remember it was 2002 and i was in UK when the first retro FOTR figures came out in the comic shops and retail, and I thought, "ugh, that's one ugly legolas and gandalf! Doesn't even look like the actors.. No way am i collecting this!". It was only when the TTT figures hit the shelves in Singapore that i started to get hooked. The face sculpt and detail was greatly improved. My first figure was Gandalf the beige, followed by Rohirrim Warrior and Legolas. The rest is history...

First started customizing around november 2004 with armoured boromir and that's when i started being active on LOTRG.com.

Actually, besides having limited articulation rohirrim is still one of my all time favourites. His vambraces and greaves are also very detailed - this figure and the Easterling were the ones that raised the standard back in 2002.

thats handsome! which legolas? the one in the 9men pack? i find thats one of the most look alike legolas in terms of facial. but the body, artilation and weapons r disappointing. lego cant even keep both his arms near his side of his body. lol. and yes.... the teenage version of aragon got to be the one from the 9 men boxset too. hes so undersize and thin... his sword looks like a dagger...think they gave him a female build.

U have a BK uruk? Wow... I want one but not willing to pay high prices for it... sigh. Why your BK Uruk pengsan? Loose joints? There is one technique for stiffening pivot joints (not applicable to ball joints) that I found quite effective when i made my custom SP Gimli. Involves some taking apart of joints so i dunno whether you would risk that for your BK Uruk. If it is just the knee joint, procedure shouldn't be too difficult... u wanna try?

Ha... sorry sorry. This is not the first time i made this mistake!

Yah mine oso got loose joints problem.. haven't fixed it yet.

i discover this trick when i created Disco KOTD. to strengthen the joints easily without fuss.... use PLAID form folkart. its in a standard folkart acrylic paint bottle. its purpose is to gloss and protect the painted surfaces.

They really give the joints a strong hold without giving off much obvious gloss( unless u apply 3 or more layers)

Not the best or correct method. but this is how i fix my joints problem. (cannot be used on humans)
